I hate, HATE drinking my diet cokes from the can, even when its cold it still tastes gross and weired. I only can drink it once its been floating in ice for a couple of minutes. So why does it taste so different even its cold in the can? Is it the metal? Wny would that change the flavour though. anyone else find this?

It’s just like orange juice in a can. It will pick up the metallic taste from the can.

Smell accounts for 70% of taste.
When you drink from a glass with a wide rim, you’re smelling just the Coke instead of the aluminum can. The wider rim allows for easier smelling. That’s why wine glasses are shaped funny with wide rims so you can experience the whole “taste sensation.”

You are wise not to drink from a can.
Not only does it taste and smell metallic but there’s a danger outdoors of a wasp getting into the open can. People have been stung and some have died.
