wrestling is definitely the hardest workout you can get from a high school sport. get ready to work until you think you are on the verge of death. types of exercises vary by school and state, but most exercises work the entire body. if you go to high school in the midwest get ready to die even more!

The first guy is right about the weight classes, except that the freshman and JV levels also have a 97-lb weight class. Running is a huge part of wrestling preparations, because you need endurance so much. It’s not uncommon to jog at about half-to-3/4 speed for about 45 minutes, followed by wind sprints. Other than running, the best way to prepare for wrestling is to wrestle. Because there’s so much skill involved, wrestlers usually don’t spend too much time doing plyometrics and that sort of thing. Stretch to build flexibility and resistance to injury, but what you need to be doing more than anything is learning moves.
