girls aren’t genetically programmed to become muscular. when losing weight you need to tone up and get mussel because if not you will look gross and flabby. don’t worry, lifting a few pounds and sculpting your body won’t make you appear muscular.
That’s physically impossible. Everything you do works out your muscles. But if by saying “gives you know muscles” you mean like not having a six pack and look like a body builder, I understand.
I would suggest something that’s fun, so you stay interested, but also interesting, like enrolling in a hip hop dance class. Also, if you are a stay at home person, theres yoga and aerobics, not to mention good ol’ Taebo with Billy Blanks.
If you want more ideas, I would suggest checking out Shape magazine. They always have cool workout ideas with great results.
no. Exercise burns fat and builds muscles, they kind of go together. The kind of muscle you’re worried about though is avoidable by varying your exercises, ie. running and cycling and swimming rather than just cycling. Swimming is actually pretty good because you are working so many different muscles and you can keep changing it just by changing strokes. By working lots of different muscles you’re more likely to loose fat whilst avoiding noticeable muscle growth. Building big muscles takes a lot of concentrated effort, and even with weight lifting all you are likely to do with your exercise routine is tone up muscles, which is good. (do do some weight lifting if you do want to tone muscles, low/medium weight, lots of reps). Running is fine, you’re legs will get stronger, but they won’t get bigger.

Pilates and yoga. You’ll tone up, but won’t build muscle.
