9yr old Whippet, we go on walks every night, plus we have a fenced in yard and play with him once a day and he always is able to go out and play and run by himself.

  4. Natalie L Says:

Well I have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and I love to take him on walks but that dosen’t really excersize them. Think about how you excersize maybe you run, so the dog can run, etc. Just look at how you excersize.

    We have 3
manchester terrier mix: 1 and 1/2 yrs
pit bull mix: 1 and about 3 months
    aussie mix: 6 months

We ride a bike and take them with us, or sometimes we just walk. If we do the bike it is usually just 20-30 min but if we walk it is about 45 min. we do this everyday.

good question here are some tips:

try jogging for at least 30mins.
play with ur dog at least 30 mins (its essential to play with ur dog and its fun!)
walk to a park nearby and take a refreshing walk with ur buddies(and ur dog of course!)
take it out for a play date witth its dog buddies!
just plain walk for an hour

lots of dogs all ages….I dont do any hard work until they are at least 12-18 months old to be sure the growth plates have closed…..but even as pups they all get walks and ball play. I also bike and roller blade with the dogs, controlled swimming using float coats, individual long walks up to 5 miles, tug games, obedience games. Such as - teach them to do sit or down stays. Have one sit at one end of a long yard and the other sit at the other end facing each other. Have a person stand behind each dog. At the same time each person calls the other dog to come. They relay past one another and have to sit facing the other person. They get a treat. Great fun! Also, take them to agility classes. Dogs love agility! Have fun!

    maltese. 1 year.
if you’re too busy to play with your dog, ask some neighborhood kids to play or walk your dog around in the yard. but if you’re playing with a ball, make sure it’s in the back yard. it may escape. throw a tennis ball somewhere and your dog will go get it. this is my maltese’s favorite game. if your dog wants to play when you don’t, just hide the toy somewhere where he/she can’t reach it.

11 year old and 9 year old Boston Terriers. Play in the fenced back yard with tennis balls and frisbees. Take the younger one for walks too, at least three times a week (the older one is lazy and doesn’t like walking, basically, he lays down half way around the block…)

    3 Labs, 1 Collie/German Shepherd Cross; aged 2, 4, 5 1/2 and 7 respectively.

We walk, mostly off leash, for a good 1 1/2 - 2 hours a day, 45-60 minutes AM and PM. They are free to run, swim and explore. Works for us.

I have two cairn terriers, 4 and 6 yrs old, they run and play together, love playing fetch everyday, we take a 20 min. daily or every other day walk, and once or twice a week I run them for 10-15 min. holding their leashes on the handle bars of my bicycle.

I have a German Short haired Pointer that’s four. I try to take my dog for two walks a day, one in the morning and one at night. Between the two walks she usually gets about 45 minutes of exercise per day.

    Hope this helped!

Jack Russell Terrier he’s 3. He loves to go for walks, I take him walking about 3 days a week. He also has a squeaky toy that he runs after and twice a month I take him to the dog park to run and play with other dogs.

  18. Carrie O Says:

    Labrador, 18 months
Walk 1 hour, Fetch in backyard 30 minutes (2x) each day
Also do agility training (usually substitute one of the fetch sessions).
Atleast once a week I try to take a hike in the woods with my dog running free, or go to an outdoor mall to meet people, or something else special.

  19. jdanley77 Says:

I have a seven month old german shepherd. He absolutely loves to fetch sticks in the lake. He’s still a pup so we restrict his swimming to 15 or 20 mins otherwise he’ll overdo it.
